Inle Lake
Inle Lake is a freshwater lake and it is located in the western Shan state. Inle Lake is famous for its floating villages and the fishermen who steer the boats with only one leg! A ride along a 22km lake is very enjoyable and you can even feed the seagulls during the boat ride. The climate in the Inle Lake is cool throughout the year but may get rainfalls between May and September. It is cold between November and February so the visitors are advised to bring sweaters during those months.
Numerous pagodas and monasteries can also be found near the lake. The Hpaung Daw U Pagoda is one of the most famous pagodas in Myanmar and people from all over the country come and donates gold leaves to the five small Buddha inside the pagoda. The Hpaung Daw Oo Festival is also the most anticipated event of the year. People from surrounding areas attend the festivals in their beautiful clothes, and you can also see people in traditional Shan costumes participating in the traditional boat races.
There are many traditional handicraft shops and restaurants along the lake. Inle Lake is known for its silk-weaving industry. You can visit those workshops by moving from place to place via boat and get full experience of Inle Lake.
